Burning Man is an annual festival held in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, where tens of thousands of participants gather to create and experience Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis formed by art, self-reliance, and radical inclusion.
While this event brings together a global community of free spirits and creative minds, it's important to note that RVezy's insurance and roadside assistance does not cover RV rentals heading to the Burning Man festival. This article will explain why we have this policy in place, and what you need to know if you plan to attend the festival.
Why is Burning Man not covered by RVezy’s insurance?
Due to the unique environmental challenges and conditions at Burning Man, attending the festival puts RVs at higher risk compared to standard rental use. The following conditions make Burning Man a special case:
- Dust storms: The fine alkaline dust in the Black Rock Desert, called "playa dust", can cause severe damage to the mechanical and electronic components of an RV, which can lead to costly repairs.
- High temperatures: The intense desert heat can cause overheating, increased pressure on the RV's cooling system, and damage to the interior and exterior components.
- Lack of water and services: The absence of on-site water sources and the remote location make it difficult to clean and maintain RVs, increasing the risk of malfunction and damage.
- Increased wear and tear: The high number of participants and the lack of on-site services contribute to a faster rate of deterioration of RVs during the festival.
- Remote location: The Black Rock Desert is a remote location with limited roads and services. making roadside assistance difficult and time-consuming.
How does this policy affect RVezy guests and hosts?
