Who is responsible for damage to tires, awnings, and windshields? Updated December 08, 2021 15:54 Renters are liable for any damages to windshields, tires, and awnings that may occur during the rental period. As part of the departure inspection, the renter is responsible for checking the condition of the tires to ensure there are no pre-existing issues. Tire issues, including the cost of the replacement tire(s) and any labor fees associated with the replacement of the tire(s), are the sole responsibility of the renter. As part of the departure inspection, the renter must also ensure they are familiar with how to operate the awning. Damages to the awning resulting from user error as the renter's sole responsibility. Damages to the awning resulting from weather conditions such as rain, wind, or snow are the renter's responsibility.
