Planning your next RV road trip should be exciting, not stressed by large holds on your bank account. The loss damage waiver is designed to streamline your rental experience by replacing traditional upfront security deposits. This helpful option acts as a deductible buy-down, giving you extra peace of mind so you can focus on the open road.
How the waiver works
The loss damage waiver covers your insurance deductible up to $1,500 during an approved insurance claim process. This waiver reduces your out-of-pocket deductible, eliminating the need for large security deposit authorization holds. It is a one-time optional fee charged at checkout, costing a flat rate of $99 (subject to tax).
What is covered vs. what is not
It is important to know exactly how you are protected before you set off on your vacation.
- Covered: Any damage that falls under the protection plan, including collision and comprehensive claims.
-
Not covered: Damage that is not included in the protection plan, such as:
- Any post-trip charges, such as late return fees, excessive cleaning fees, fees to empty holding tanks, fuel, or propane.
- Road tolls, parking tickets, citations, fines, or other penalties while the RV is in your possession.
- Damage caused by normal wear and tear or failure to perform regular customary maintenance, and interior damages.
- Damages caused when using the RV for the Burning Man festival or travelling to other restricted & prohibited areas listed in the terms of service.
Managing post-trip charges
The waiver handles insurance deductibles for approved claims, but it does not prevent hosts from collecting other common fees. Your host can still request money for post-trip charges such as interior damage, excessive cleaning, refuelling, mileage overages, and generator usage.
Keeping your required protection plan
Please note that a protection plan is still required on every applicable trip alongside this optional waiver. Protection plan coverage varies between Basic, Standard, Premium, and Stationary levels to fit your specific comfort and travel needs. The $99 waiver fee simply lowers your financial responsibility for the deductible if an accident happens.
