Guide to renting an RV on RVezy
Renting an RV is a great way to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of the open road. This guide walks you through every step of the process, from searching for the right RV to understanding what happens after you send a booking request. By following these steps, you'll feel confident in choosing the perfect RV for your trip.
Search for an RV
Start by entering your desired location and travel dates. You can then use filters to narrow down the options and find the RV that best matches your plans.
Use filters to refine your search
Filters help you choose an RV that fits your travel style, comfort needs, and itinerary. You can filter by:
- Type of RV - such as motorhomes, campervans, fifth wheels, or travel trailers
- Delivery availability - whether you want the RV delivered to your campsite or if you'll pick it up yourself
- Pet-friendly - perfect if you plan to travel with your dog or other pets
- Festival-friendly - some RVs allow festival or event travel, while others do not
- RV year - narrowing by model year can help you find newer RVs if that's a priority
- RV length and weight - useful for campsite size requirements or towing verification
- Manufacturer - if you prefer certain brands
- Amenities - such as air conditioning, solar power, kitchen features, awnings, and more
Using filters early helps you focus on listings that fit your needs and makes comparing options easier.
Navigate the search results
Once you've narrowed down your search with filters, you can use the map feature to zoom in on a specific area. You can also change how the search results are sorted:
- Recommended (default): Let our search algorithm find the best RVs based on your search criteria and filters.
- Price: Sort by low to high or high to low and find the RVs that best suit your budget.
- Distance (closest first): See the RVs that are closest to your desired location.
Review each listing carefully
Before sending a request, take the time to read through the listing details. This helps you understand what the RV offers, what's included in the price, and what rules apply to the rental.
What to look for in the listing
- Description: Read the full description to understand how the RV is laid out, what it's like to use, and whether it suits your group size and trip style.
- Amenities: Check the list of included amenities so you know exactly what's provided. This may include kitchen supplies, bedding, bathroom features, heating or cooling systems, storage options, and more.
- Rates and allowances: Look closely at the mileage and generator allowances. Some listings include unlimited usage, while others may charge for additional use beyond a daily limit. Understanding this ahead of time helps you plan your route and budget.
- Delivery: If a host offers delivery, you'll see information about their rates, maximum delivery distance, and rules or restrictions. Enter your delivery address in the provided field to confirm whether the host can deliver there and the associated fee.
- Add-ons: Many hosts offer optional add-ons such as linens, barbecues, bike racks, or packages. These vary by listing and can enhance your trip.
-
RV rules: Each host set their own rules. Be sure to review:
- Pickup and drop-off times
- Whether festivals or events are allowed
- Restrictions on cross-border travel
- Smoking or pet policies
- Any other special requirements or guidelines
- Host profile and bio: See some basic information about the host such as when they joined RVezy, their response rate, and their other listings by clicking on their profile photo.
- Past guest reviews: Reviews offer insight into the RV's condition and the host's communication style. They can help you feel more confident in your choice.
Send a booking request
When you're ready, submit a booking request for the RV that fits your needs and travel plans by clicking on Request to book.
You'll be prompted to enter your destination and select pick-up or delivery, if delivery wasn't already added. Write a brief message introducing yourself to the host, sharing information about your trip, and asking any questions you may have.
After continuing, review the add-ons offered by the host and select any you may need for your trip. Lastly, review or change your protection plan and add your payment information. You'll only be charged if the host accepts your booking request.
What to expect after sending a request
- Hosts have 48 hours to accept or decline your request.
- The host may message you with questions about your trip. Responding promptly helps move the process forward.
- A host may also send a special offer, which can adjust pricing or customize the booking based on your needs.
Your booking is not confirmed until the host accepts or you submit your payment information if not already added.
Understand the cancellation policy
Once the host accepts your request, or once you submit your payment information, depending on the booking flow, your booking becomes confirmed. At that point, your trip is subject to our cancellation policy. Be sure to review the policy before submitting your booking request so you know what to expect if your plans change.
Finalize your trip plans
After your booking is confirmed, you'll receive important details from your host to help you prepare for your trip. Stay in touch through the platform, ask any questions you have, and get ready to enjoy your RV adventure.

Understanding rental rules
This guide explains common RV rental rules, including minimum night stays, pet policies and fees, optional add-ons, mileage and generator usage limits, festival attendance, cross-border travel, smoking rules, driver experience requirements, and pickup/drop-off times. Understanding these rules and communicating with hosts ensures a smooth booking and trip experience.
Before booking an RV, it's important to understand the rental rules set by each host. These rules help you plan your trip, avoid unexpected charges, and ensure that the RV you choose is a good fit for your needs. This guide covers the most common rules you'll see when browsing listings and explain what they mean for your booking.
Minimum nights and short stays
Hosts can choose to require a minimum number of nights for their bookings. When sending a booking request, you won't be able to proceed unless you meet or exceed that number, or the host has opted to allow short stays.
Short stays enables you to book an RV for one night less than the minimum number of nights set by the host, but at the same cost as their minimum number of nights. For example, if a host has a 2-night minimum and a nightly rate of $100/night, you can book their RV for one night at $200 (2-night minimum x $100/night). You'll only be charged the protection plan for the actual number of nights booked.
Pet-friendly RVs and pet fees
If you're travelling with a pet, look for RVs marked as pet friendly. Even when booking a pet-friendly RV, you should always disclose that you're bringing a pet when submitting your request. Hosts appreciate transparency and may have specific expectations for travelling with animals.
Some hosts also charge a pet fee, which may appear as an add-on or be mentioned in their listing description. If a pet fee is listed as an add-on, make sure to select it when booking.
Add-ons
Add-ons are optional services and convenience items that help customize and enhance your trip. You can select them during the booking process or add them later before your trip begins. Examples include:
- Prepaid septic emptying
- Prepaid fuel or propane refill
- Airport pickup
- Bedding and linens
- Bike rack
- Portable BBQ or generator
- WiFi
Some hosts require certain add-ons to be selected. These requirements are usually explained in the listing description, but the host may also send a special offer after you request to book. Special offers can adjust pricing or add any required services.
Mileage allowance
For motorized RVs, hosts can choose how mileage is handled. They may offer:
- Unlimited mileage, so you can drive any distance without additional charges.
- A daily mileage allowance, with a fee for exceeding the daily limit.
Mileage is calculated per day. For example, with a 3-night rental and an allowance of 100 miles or kilometres per day, you can drive a total of 400 miles/km for free. Any distance beyond that total will be charged after the trip based on the host's listed rate.
Generator usage
Hosts who offer an onboard generator as an amenity may provide:
- Unlimited generator usage, or
- A daily allowance, with fees for any hours used beyond the limit.
Generator usage is calculated per day. If your 3-night rental includes 4 free hours per day, you can use 16 total hours without extra charges. Additional hours will be billed after the trip based on the host's listed rate.
Festivals and events
Hosts set their own rules regarding festivals and events. Listings may show:
- Allowed
- Not allowed
- Negotiable
You may be asked whether you plan to attend a festival or event when sending a booking request, and you should answer truthfully. If festivals or events are not allowed, you won't be able to proceed with your request and will be invited to browse RVs that do allow festivals or events. If they are allowed, you'll be asked to provide the name of the festival or event so the host is aware of your plans.
Cross-border travel
Hosts choose whether to allow travel between Canada and the United States. If cross-border travel is not permitted, you will not be able to select a destination in the other country when submitting your booking request.
If cross-border travel is allowed, you should share your planned route and destinations with your host. Being transparent about your itinerary helps ensure the RV is used appropriately and avoids misunderstandings.
Smoking
Some hosts allow smoking in their RVs, while others do not. Listings may include an odor removal fee, displayed as an add-on or mentioned in the description. Always review these rules carefully so you understand what's expected.
Experienced driver or towing requirements
Some hosts require that guests have prior experience driving or towing vehicles of a similar size. This is common for larger motorhomes or towable trailers. You should answer this question truthfully when submitting your request to make sure you're renting an RV that aligns with your comfort and experience level.
Pickup and drop-off times
Hosts set the pickup and drop-off times for their RV. These times appear in the listing, but you should still discuss them with your host so everyone is aligned.
Hosts may charge a fee for early pickup or late return outside their standard times. These fees should be listed in the add-on section or explained in the description. Flexible pickup and drop-off options do not mean you can arrive at any time; coordination with your host is still required.
Understanding rental rules before booking helps ensure a smooth experience from start to finish. By reviewing the listing carefully and communicating openly with your host, you can feel confident choosing the right RV for your trip.

How to get an RV delivered
Getting an RV delivered to your location offers a stress-free rental experience by eliminating the need to drive or tow. Hosts provide setup, including positioning, leveling, and connecting utilities. Delivery fees vary by host and distance. Clear communication about location and timing ensures smooth delivery and pickup. This option is ideal for first-time RVers, travelers flying in, or those wanting immediate use upon arrival.
Getting an RV delivered to your campsite, home, or chosen location is one of the easiest ways to enjoy your rental without the stress of driving or towing. Delivery saves time, simplifies setup, and allows you to start your trip the moment you arrive.
Why delivery is a great option
Delivery gives you a hands-off RV experience. It’s ideal if you:
- Prefer not to drive or tow
- Are new to RV rentals
- Are flying into the area and need airport or campground delivery
- Want the RV ready upon arrival at your campsite
- Are staying at a festival or event where setup time matters
It lets you focus on enjoying your vacation while your host handles the transportation and setup.
Choosing an RV that offers delivery
Some hosts offer delivery as part of their rental services, and you can filter for Delivery when searching. This helps you quickly find RVs that the host is willing to drive or tow to your preferred location.
Hosts set their own delivery fees and distance limits. Because delivery involves fuel, time, and transportation logistics, RVs with delivery often reflect these factors in their pricing.
When viewing a listing that offers delivery, you can input your desired location to confirm the availability and the corresponding fee.
If your delivery address is outside of the host's range, you'll be prompted to send an inquiry using the Ask a question button to discuss your options with the host.
How delivery works
When you book delivery, the host brings the RV directly to your chosen location and sets it up for you. This includes:
- Positioning and levelling the RV
- Connecting utilities, if available
- Walking you through how everything works
- Ensuring the RV is ready for your stay
At the end of your trip, the host will return to pick up the RV. Delivery removes the need for you to drive, tow, or manage setup, making it an ideal option for first-time RVers or guests who prefer a turnkey experience.
Coordinating with your host
Clear communication helps ensure delivery goes smoothly. After booking, be sure to share:
- The exact delivery address
- Your campsite or site number, if staying at a campground
- Gate or park entry instructions, if required
- Arrival and departure times, so you and the host are both present
- Any restrictions, such as tight roads or limited parking
Being upfront about this information allows the host to prepare, arrive on time, and set up the RV safely.
Understanding delivery fees
Delivery fees are determined by each host and reflect their time, distance, and effort. Hosts can set a price per mile or kilometre as well as a minimum delivery fee. If your delivery address is close enough to the RV that the price per mile/km falls below the minimum delivery fee, the minimum fee will apply:
These pricing structures help hosts cover their costs for transporting, setting up, and retrieving the RV. You can view the delivery fee on the listing and throughout the request process.
Sending a booking request with delivery
When you request to book an RV with delivery, you’ll be able to enter the delivery location and any notes for the host in your introductory message. You'll also be asked if you plan to move the RV after it's delivered, which will determine your protection plan.
After your request is sent:
- The host will review your information
- They may ask clarifying questions
- They’ll confirm whether they can deliver to your chosen location
If needed, the host may send you a special offer that adjusts the delivery fee or accommodates your specific plans.
On the day of delivery
Plan to arrive at your campsite or meet the host at the delivery location. Being present is important so you can:
- Review the setup
- Learn how to use the RV systems
- Ask any questions about appliances, hookups, or rules
- Walk through the RV to complete the inspection process
At the end of your trip, make sure you are also present for pickup so the host can complete walkthrough procedures and prepare the RV for the journey home.
Booking an RV with delivery is one of the simplest ways to enjoy the comfort of an RV without the responsibility of driving or towing. With clear communication and good planning, your host can make your arrival feel effortless, so you can relax and enjoy your trip from the moment you arrive.

When a host can cancel an instant booking
