Payouts & taxes

Understand host payments, applicable fees, and tax-related details.

  • Getting paid for your rentals

RV rental payouts are sent via direct deposit within 24 hours of the trip's start. Payouts take 3-5 business days to arrive, with the first payout possibly taking up to 7 days. Ensure your banking info is accurate to avoid delays. For issues, check your details, contact your bank, or reach out to support.

Getting paid for your RV rental should feel simple and predictable. This guide explains when your payout is released, how long processing takes, and what you can expect throughout the payment journey.

    How payouts are issued

Payouts are sent by direct deposit to the bank account you added through your account settings. Make sure your banking information is accurate, as incorrect details can delay your payout.

    When payouts are released

Your payout will be issued within 24 hours of the trip's start date. This timing helps confirm the booking has started as planned. You don't need to take any action once the trip starts; the payout is automatically issued.

Additional payouts for trip extensions while the booking is active will be issued after the trip.

How long payouts take to arrive

Once released, your payout may take a few business days to reach your bank account. Banks process deposits at different speeds, and weekends or holidays can slow things down. Most hosts receive their funds within 3-5 business days, but exact timing depends on your financial institution. Your first-ever payout may take up to 7 business days to be received.

    Updating your payout method

Make sure your payout information is always accurate. You can update your payout method in your account settings to avoid delays.

    If your payout seems delayed

If your payout has not arrived after several business days, first confirm that your banking information is correct. If your banking information was incorrect, the payout will be re-issued automatically within 24 hours of submitting the correct information. You may also want to check with your bank to ensure there are no issues on their end. If everything looks right, our support team is happy to help you investigate further.

  • How to add or update your banking information

This guide explains how hosts can add or update their banking information for payouts through account settings. It details required personal info, bank details, and identity verification steps via Stripe. Hosts should edit existing accounts rather than adding new ones to avoid payout delays.

Keeping your banking information current helps ensure your payouts arrive without delays. You can update these details at any time from your account settings. This quick guide walks you through the steps and helps you understand what information is required.

    Setting up your payout account

To add your banking information to your profile, head to your account settings and click on Payout info. Alternatively, you can follow the notification in your dashboard.

From there, click on Add payout information to get started.

    For Canadian hosts

    1. Complete your personal information: Ensure your name, email address, and phone number are correct, and provide your home address.
    2. Enter your banking information: Submit the transit, institution, and account numbers in the relevant fields.
    3. Verify your identity with Stripe: Select the liveness option for immediate results by taking a photo of your ID and a selfie. Alternatively, verify your ID and address by submitting two documents and get results within 1-2 days.

Once all the steps above are completed, your account will be set up and ready to receive payouts.

    For American hosts

    1. Select a banking institution.
    2. Connect to your institution's online banking for quick set up, or manually verify by submitting the routing and account numbers.
    3. Complete your personal information, including name, email address, phone number, and home address.
    4. When redirected to the Payout info section, click Edit beside your bank account, then Edit again in the Personal info section. Add the last four digits of your SSN as they will be required later.

Once all the steps above are completed, your account will be set up and ready to receive payouts.

If any of the information submitted is incorrect, incomplete, or could not be verified, you'll see a notification in your Payout info:

Click on Add information and follow the prompts to finish setting up your payout account.

    Updating your payout account

If your banking information changes or was previously submitted incorrectly, you can update it at any time. Head to your account settings and click on Payout info, then Edit beside the current bank account on file.

Under Payout details, click on Edit and update the existing banking information as needed. You may be prompted to enter the previous account number to do so; if you no longer have access to it, you'll have the option to verify your identity with Stripe instead. Do not click on Add bank account, as this will add a second account which can cause issues or delays with future payouts.

  • Understanding RVezy's service fee for hosts

RVezy charges a 20% service fee to hosts on confirmed RV bookings, including rental, preparation, and add-ons, with a minimum per night fee ($15 for motorhomes, $10 for trailers). Delivery and post-trip fees incur a 5% fee. Optional fees include 9% for Featured RV listings and 10% for Payout Guarantee. Older RVs (over 20 years for motorhomes, 25 for trailers) face a 25% fee. The fee covers platform maintenance, support, insurance, and payment processing.

RVezy's service fee helps provide the tools, protection, and support you use to run your RV rental business. It's only charged on paid, confirmed bookings and is deducted before you receive your payout, so there are no upfront costs to listing your RV.

    How the service fee works

A service fee of 20% applies to the total amount you charge the guest. This includes the rental amount, preparation fee, and any add-ons included in the booking.

If you offer delivery, the delivery fee is only subject to a 5% service fee. Additional charges requested after the trip, such as damage or mileage, is also only subject to a 5% transaction fee. This helps cover the costs of processing these transactions between you and your guest.

    Minimum service fee per night

RVezy applies a minimum service fee per night on rentals. This only applies if the calculated service fee on the rental amount falls below the minimum:

    • Motorhomes: minimum of $15 per night
    • Trailers: minimum of 10$ per night

For example, if you rent a motorhome and have a confirmed booking for $50/night for 3 nights, the percentage service fee of 20% applied is only $10, which is below the minimum. As such, the service fee would be $45 ($15/night x 3 nights).

    What the service fee covers

The host service fee helps maintain a platform designed to support your rentals from start to finish. It covers the costs of:

    • Maintaining and improving the website and mobile app
    • Providing direct customer support
    • Hosting your RV listing and promoting it to potential guests
    • Managing bookings and secure payment processing
    • Offering commercial insurance coverage
    • Verifying guests

    Additional service fees

    Featured RV

RVezy offers an optional Featured RV upgrade to help you promote your listing. When enabled, your RV appears at the top of the search results in your area.

If you turn on featured RV for your listing, an additional service fee of 9% will apply to your bookings.

    Payout guarantee

RVezy also offers an optional Payout Guarantee feature. This provides extra piece of mind by helping protect your payout in the unlikely event that your RV is damaged during a rental on the platform.

If you choose to opt in, an additional 10% service fee is applied to your bookings.

    Older or vintage RVs

    RVezy generally accepts:

    • Motorhomes that are less than 20 years old compared to the current year
    • Trailers that are less than 25 years old compared to the current year

In some cases, exceptions may be made after additional verification and older RVs can be listed. If you list an older RV, it is subject to a 25% service fee instead of the base 20% service fee applied to RVs within the above age restrictions.

  • How to guarantee your rental payout

RVezy's Payout Guarantee protects your rental income if your RV becomes undrivable due to damage during an RVezy rental. It covers lost income from canceled bookings with the guarantee added before damage, up to $5,000 per claim and $10,000 annually. A 10% fee applies, and claims must be approved by RVezy. The guarantee excludes non-RVezy rentals, cosmetic damage, maintenance issues, or bookings without prior guarantee. Claims require submitting an insurance claim and following RVezy's process.

RVezy's Payout Guarantee gives you extra piece of mind by helping you protect your earnings if your RV is returned damaged. This optional feature adds an extra layer of security so you feel confident hosting every trip.

    What payout guarantee does

Payout guarantee helps cover your rental income if your RV is is rendered undrivable, non-towable, or unsafe due to damages incurred during an RVezy rental. It ensures you still receive the payout for subsequent bookings that need to be cancelled while your RV awaits repairs. This support helps keep your rental income stable when unexpected issues occur.

Note that payout guarantee has a limit of $5,000 per claim and a maximum of $10,000 per year. Refer to section 9 of our terms of service for more information.

    How payout guarantee works

You can opt in to payout guarantee directly from your listing, or on individual bookings once confirmed. Payout guarantee cannot be removed from a booking once added, even if the feature is turned off in your listing.

    In your listing:

    1. Edit the listing you want to modify.
    2. Head to the Earn more section.
    3. Toggle on Payout Guarantee.

On a confirmed booking (available up to 72 hours before the trip starts):

    1. Access the booking details page.
    2. Scroll down to Manage booking.
    3. Click on Guarantee your payout.
    4. Confirm your selection by clicking Add payout guarantee.

Once enabled, an additional 10% service fee is applied to bookings with payout guarantee.

    When payout guarantee applies

All of the below criteria must then be met in order to be eligible for payout guarantee:

    • Lost rental income from an RVezy booking must be due to damages that occurred to the RV during a trip booked through RVezy only.
    • Reason for cancellation(s) must be due to the RV being undrivable, non-towable, or unsafe to operate due to an accident.
    • The insurance claim submitted to RVezy with regards to the damage must be validated and approved by our team.
    • Any booking to be paid out in case of cancellation must have had the payout guarantee added to the booking before the date of damage.
    • Any booking to be paid out in case of cancelation should fall within 90 days from the end date of the trip where the damages occurred.

The following scenarios are not covered under payout guarantee:

    • Lost rental income from any other rental service, platform, or any rental conducted privately.
    • Lost rental income from bookings canceled due to interior or cosmetic damages, or where add-ons are damaged.
    • Lost rental income from bookings canceled due to problems related to or caused by maintenance, wear & tear, or mechanical issues.
    • Any booking that did not include the payout guarantee before the damages occurred.
    • Lost rental income from a claim that does not strictly follow RVezy’s resolution process as defined in our terms of service.

    Receiving guaranteed payouts

The first step to get started is to submit an insurance claim on the booking during which the damage(s) occurred. Your assigned claims advisor will then contact you to review the claim and assess your upcoming confirmed bookings.

The claims advisor will determine whether payout guarantee applies based on the above criteria. If so, they will manage the cancellations and issue your guaranteed payout(s). Wait for the claims advisor to instruct you on the proper course of action; do not cancel the bookings yourself.

  • Refunding money to a guest

Hosts on RVezy can issue refunds during or up to 45 days after a rental using the Send money feature for partial returns, unused add-ons, or issue resolution. Refunds are sent via the booking details, are final once sent, and exclude service fees and taxes. The refunded amount is deducted from the host's payout, and guests receive it within 3-5 business days through their original payment method, with an automated chat notification confirming the refund.

It can happen to the best of hosts: Plans go wrong and you can't deliver everything your listing promised. If something gets in the way of your guest's experience, you can send them a refund directly through the RVezy platform during or after their rental by using the Send money feature.

    How refunds are processed

RVezy processes refunds securely and completes the transaction on your behalf. Once you send money:

    • The refunded amount is deducted from your payout.

  • Taxes for hosts

Understanding how taxes apply to your bookings is an important part of hosting. This article explains the taxes that are charged to hosts, as well as how registered businesses can collect their own sales tax.

    When taxes apply

Sales tax applies based on federal, provincial, state, and local tax rules. These rules depend on your location and the tax laws in the region where your RV is listed. RVezy follows all applicable tax laws and will apply the relevant tax rate to your service fee, which will then be deducted from your rental payout.

    Taxes in Canada

    Taxes on RVezy's service fee

On each of your rentals, RVezy applies taxes to your service fee based on the province where your RV is located. In British Columbia and Quebec, both the federal and provincial tax are applied. In all other Canadian provinces and territories, only the federal tax applies.

Collecting sales taxes as a registered business

If you are registered as a business, you have the option to collect your own sales taxes from guests. This amount is not subject to RVezy's service fee or tax, and the entire amount will be transferred to you as part of your payout for the rental under the line item "Sales Taxes Collected".

This option is available in the Pricing section of your listing, at the bottom of the page. Once toggled on, you'll be able to enter your tax account number(s). Depending on your province, you may be able to enter only one number (for example, HST in Ontario) or two numbers (for example, GST and PST in Manitoba).

    Saskatchewan

For hosts located in Saskatchewan, recent changes in provincial tax regulations mean that RVezy now handles the collection and remittance of provincial sales tax (PST) directly. This adjustment removes the burden from hosts to register separate business accounts for these taxes. RVezy remits these taxes using its registered identification number:

    • Saskatchewan PST: 7659196

Hosts in Saskatchewan can still collect the federal GST on their rentals.

    Other Canadian provinces/territories

Hosts residing in other Canadian provinces and territories maintain the ability to collect both provincial and federal taxes, provided they have a registered tax account. Importantly, the collected sales tax amount is excluded from RVezy’s service fees, ensuring hosts receive the full amount alongside their rental payouts.

    Taxes in the United States

    Taxes on RVezy's service fee

On each of your rentals, RVezy applies taxes to your service fee based on the State where your RV is located. Currently, taxes are only charged in the following US States:

    • Arizona
    • Colorado
    • Florida
    • Georgia
    • Michigan
    • Nevada
    • North Carolina
    • Ohio
    • Oklahoma
    • Pennsylvania
    • Tennessee
    • Texas
    • Utah
    • Washington

Collecting sales taxes as a registered business

Hosts in the US currently do not have the ability to collect their own sales taxes from their guests.

  • Tracking and reporting your payouts

RVezy allows hosts to track earnings via the Insights page showing upcoming payouts, year-to-date, and lifetime earnings. While no single earnings statement is available, hosts can download individual payout receipts per booking for records. Eligible US hosts may receive 1099-K tax forms if they meet IRS thresholds. Regular tracking helps maintain accurate financial records.

RVezy provides tools to help you track your payouts and understand your earnings over time. While a single detailed earnings statement is not available, you can view payout summaries, download payout receipts, and receive tax documents if you're eligible.

    Viewing your earnings overview

You can track your earnings directly from the Insights page in your account. Under the Earnings section, you'll find a high-level overview that includes:

    • Your total upcoming payouts for confirmed bookings
    • Your year-to-date payouts
    • Your lifetime earnings on RVezy

This overview helps you monitor how your rentals are performing without needing to open individual bookings.

    Accessing payout details and receipts

RVezy does not provide a downloadable statement that summarizes all earnings in one document. Instead, payout information is available at the booking level.

For completed bookings, you can download individual payout receipts from the Booking documents section within each booking. These receipts show detailed payout breakdowns related to that specific booking and can be used for personal records or bookkeeping.

    Using payout information for reporting

Because payouts are tied to individual bookings, many hosts use downloaded payout receipts alongside the Insights earnings overview to track income. This approach allows you to reconcile payouts over time, even though a single combined earnings statement is not provided.

Tax documents for eligible US hosts

RVezy issues tax documents only to eligible hosts in the United States. If you meet the required filing threshold, you may receive a 1099-K form.

A 1099-K reports gross payment amounts processed on your behalf during the calendar year. Eligibility and filing requirements are determined by US tax regulations and may change overtime. If you qualify, the form will be issued automatically by email or by mail through our payment processor, Stripe. 1099-K forms are issued in January, once the previous calendar year has ended.

If you're unsure whether you meet the threshold or how the form applies to your situation, a tax professional can help provide guidance.

Tracking your payouts regularly helps you stay organized and prepared for reporting. By reviewing your earnings overview and downloading payout receipts as needed, you can maintain accurate records throughout the year.
