  • Keeping the RVezy community safe for hosts

RVezy is committed to building your trust, helping you feel safe, and protecting every user throughout the rental process.

Our comprehensive verification system checks details such as name, address, government-issued ID and more to confirm the identity of guests who book on RVezy. As part of that verification process, we also run a check on several factors that are known to indicate high-risk guests or trips.

    What happens with high-risk guests?

Based on the results of our verification process, a guest may be identified as posing a higher safety risk. If that’s the case, the booking will be cancelled and the guest will receive a full refund.

The trip dates will become available in your calendar again so you can get your RV booked up with a safer guest.

How will I know if one of my guests is identified as high-risk?

You’ll be notified by email as well as through a push notification if you’ve downloaded the RVezy app and enabled notifications. We’ll also notify you on the booking details of the cancelled trip.

Will I still get paid if a booking is cancelled?

As a fraud prevention measure, the guest will receive a full refund when a high-risk booking is cancelled, and no payout will be issued to the host.

Please note that in an effort to maintain a safe community for all users, RVezy may collect your credit score for additional verification.

  • What do I need to qualify for RVezy's insurance?

Our insurance requires that all hosts are over the age of 25, and that their vehicles meet the following requirements.

    • Motorhomes should not be older than 15 years when listed on the website**
    • Motorhomes must be valued at less than CAD $150,000
    • Trailers should not be older than 20 years when listed on the website**
    • Trailers must be valued at less than CAD $100,000

For RVs registered in the United States:

    • Motorhomes should not be older than 15 years when listed on the website**
    • Motorhomes must be valued at less than USD $150,000
    • Trailers should not be older than 20 years when listed on the website**
    • Trailers must be valued at less than USD $100,000
    • RVs should not be traveling in the prohibited travel areas

It is also important to mention that to be eligible to file an insurance claim, the below conditions must be met for every rental:

    • An approved driver must be added to the booking
    • The insurance profile must be completed and approved by RVezy before the RV is released
    • The rental agreement must be signed by both parties
    • The departure and return inspections must be completed by both parties

**Although RVezy does not allow new listings for RVs that exceed these age restrictions, existing listings exceeding the restrictions that are currently on the platform will still be covered by RVezy's insurance.

  • Do I have to pay to use RVezy's insurance as a host?

As a host, there is no additional cost for you to use RVezy's commercial insurance. This service is already included in the service fee applied to your rentals.

  • Does RVezy screen guests?

RVezy screens guests through the submission of a driver application. This application collects some personal information from the guest as well as some information regarding their driving history to ensure that they are qualified to rent an RV. The approved driver will also be responsible and liable for the state of the RV during the rental period and therefore needs to be present for the entire duration.

In order for the rental to be insured, at least one driver must be added and approved. Any individual who plans on driving or towing the RV during the rental needs to be added as a driver and approved.

If there is no approved driver added to the rental, the RV host will be advised not to release their vehicle and the booking will be cancelled.

This applies to rentals where the RV is being delivered.

In the event of any damages occurring while an unapproved driver is driving the RV, OR in the event of any damages occurring while there is no approved driver on the booking, the resulting damages will not be covered by the insurance, and the guest will be fully responsible for the total costs of repairs.

  • What procedure should the RV host follow if the RV breaks down during a rental?

If an RV breaks down during a rental, the host should first try to get as much information about the breakdown from the guest and try to troubleshoot. The guest should confirm with the host before making any repairs to the RV.

If they are not able to fix the issue, the host will need to wait until the guest has brought the RV to a garage to hear back on the cause of the breakdown.

The host should stay in regular contact with the guest and the garage until the RV has been repaired.

Please note, as per section 4.4 of the Terms of Service, mechanical issues are the responsibility of the host unless it can be proven that the mechanical failure was caused by the guest.

  • What is the insurance application?

The insurance application is mandatory for every host. It must be completed and approved to determine if your RV qualifies for RVezy's commercial insurance policy.

As part of the application you will need to provide the following information:

    • Personal information
    • Information about your driving history
    • Pictures of your vehicle registration
    • Name of your personal insurance provider
    • Information about your RV such as license plate, VIN, make and model, etc.

It is required to have a personal policy in place on your RV and to provide us with the name of your personal provider. This is a mandatory requirement set forth by our insurance provider for screening purposes, however, rest assured that we will not contact or involve your personal provider in the event of a claim.

This application should be completed as soon as you've finished listing your RV and must be completed and approved before your RV leaves on its first rental. If your RV is released without a completed or approved insurance application, coverage may not be provided.

  • How do I open an insurance claim on a booking?

Accidents and damages are rare, but they do happen. For that reason, we offer commercial insurance coverage to our hosts, so you know that your RV will always be protected on your rentals.

    Opening an insurance claim

If your RV sustains substantial damages during a rental, or if your guest gets in an accident, you can open an insurance claim during or after the rental period. To do so, simply access the booking details page and scroll to the "Manage your booking" section where you will find the "Start insurance claim" button.

After clicking on that button, a pop-up window will appear so you can confirm that opening an insurance claim is the right course of action based on the incident or damages that took place. If you are sure that you wish to proceed with a claim, click on 'Start insurance claim'.

    Screenshot_2022-11-28_105522.png

A new window will open where you can begin filling out a claim submission form. Click on 'Begin' to start providing additional information surrounding the details of your claim.

    Screenshot_2022-11-28_105838.png

This 9-step submission form will ask for information including but not limited to:

    • Your contact information
    • Information about your RV
    • Description of the incident that took place
    • The specific location of the incident
    • Photos of the damage as well as where it's located on your RV
    • Any additional documents to support the claim (videos, text messages, estimates or quotes from a garage, etc.)

    Screenshot_2022-11-28_111406.png

Once you're satisfied with the information, documents, and photos you've included in your submission, click on 'Submit'. Once the claim form is submitted, you'll be provided with a claim number which you can reference when communicating with us. You'll also receive an email confirming that your claim was successfully submitted.

A member of our claims team will then be in contact with you within two to three business days to discuss the next steps.

  • What is the insurance claim process?

When an accident or collision occurs during a rental, a claim will have to be opened through the website or the app. The claim can be opened while the trip is still occurring or for up to 30 days after the trip has ended.

If the collision is not too significant and the RV can still be safely driven, the guest can continue with their trip and the host can open a claim once the RV has been returned. If the collision is significant and the trip has to be interrupted, RVezy should be notified immediately and an insurance claim will need to be opened right away.

If the guest has to leave the RV at a garage due to extensive damage, they must notify RVezy before doing so. The guest should document the condition of the RV through photos and videos for insurance purposes before leaving the RV.

The host will need to open a claim by accessing the booking in their RVezy account and clicking on Start insurance claim. You can consult this article for more information: How do I open an insurance claim on a booking?

It is important that both inspections are completed upon departure and return, by the host and the guest. This is an equally shared responsibility for both parties, in order to document the condition of the RV and to protect oneself in the event of a claim.

  • Is a guest allowed to cross the US-Canada border with my RV?

As RVezy's insurance coverage and roadside assistance are both valid in Canada and in the US (except for restricted and prohibited areas), guests are generally allowed to cross this border in either direction.

Guests should share their itinerary with you to ensure you're aware of and comfortable with the locations where they will be bringing the RV. If they are planning on crossing the US-Canada border, they should also share that information with you.

In order to cross the border with your RV, the guest will need to print a copy of the booking voucher and their roadside assistance certificate (if applicable). You should also provide the guest with a copy of your RVezy insurance certificate (available in the Documents section of the booking) as well as the RV registration.

Please note that Mexico is a prohibited travel area. RVs are not allowed to cross the border into Mexico, and RVezy's insurance and roadside assistance coverage are both void if an RV travels to that area.

  • Do I still need to have a personal policy on my RV if I'm using RVezy's insurance?

Even with an approved insurance application and RVezy's commercial insurance covering your RV during rentals and deliveries, maintaining a personal RV policy is still mandatory. This policy is essential for times when the RV is under your everyday care and is a requirement for our insurance partner's coverage to be valid.

This is also beneficial as it will cover your RV and your liability outside RVezy’s platform. Additionally, since your personal RV policy does not extend coverage during rental periods, RVezy's insurance steps in to cover both you and your RV during the rental, delivery, and pickup.

Rest assured that using RVezy's commercial policy for rental-related incidents will not involve your personal insurance provider.

  • Do I need to get my own commercial insurance policy for my RV?

RVezy's commercial insurance policy is one of the best in the industry. We offer insurance in all 50 US states and most provinces in Canada, meaning most hosts will not need their own commercial insurance.

However, if your RV is registered in a location where we do not offer insurance, you will be responsible for ensuring that your RV is properly insured for private rentals, either through your existing personal insurer or by purchasing a commercial policy for your RV.

    Canada

Trailers are covered in all provinces and territories.

At this time, RVezy does not offer coverage for motorhomes in the Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the territories.

    United States

Motorhomes and trailers are covered in all 50 states

  • What should I do if RVezy doesn't offer insurance in my province or state?

If your motorhome is registered in a province or State where RVezy does not provide insurance coverage, you will be asked to agree to a declaration when listing your motorhome:

    Screen_Shot_2022-04-21_at_11.32.03_AM.png

You will also agree that you are responsible for providing adequate insurance coverage for your motorhome and your guests during rentals, such as a specific commercial automobile policy that allows for peer-to-peer rentals.

As a marketplace, RVezy will not be held responsible for verifying your insurance status, however, we do encourage hosts to provide proof of coverage to their guests. This will help ensure both a protected trip and a better experience during and after the booking. In the event of any damages occurring during a rental without adequate coverage, the host will only be able to claim up to the amount of the guest's security deposit.

To proceed with listing your RV on our site in these areas, it is mandatory that you carry your own commercial insurance policy that allows you to rent it to others and protects them as well.

  • What should I do if my RVezy insurance certificate is expired?

Every insurance policy has a renewal date. When our policy with our insurance partners is renewed, an updated insurance certificate will be provided.

If the insurance certificate provided for one of your rentals is expired, rest assured that your RV will still be insured for the rental period. Our policy remains active even if the certificates are not updated in our system.

Once the new certificate is received, all existing bookings will be updated to reflect the new expiration date.

  • Why was a betterment amount deducted from the total cost of my claim?

The purpose of an automobile insurance policy in the event of a covered loss is to put the host, and thus their property, back into the same position they were in before the loss occurred, not better and not worse.

Automobile insurance policies are set up to cover the actual cash value of a vehicle and its parts when covered damages occur, whether it has to be repaired or replaced, and whichever is the lesser of the two, in order to put them back in the same position they were in prior to the loss.

When submitting an insurance claim with RVezy, the host may be expected to pay a betterment charge if the repairs required to be performed on the RV will put it in a better condition than it was before the damages occurred. The host will be notified about any betterment fees before the repairs are authorized.

The basis of settlement for any physical damage claim is Actual Cash Value (ACV). The value of the loss or damage will be based on the RV’s ACV at the time it was damaged. ACV is determined by attributing depreciation to the parts requiring replacement. Depreciation is calculated by considering the age and condition of the part(s) prior to the loss, with the intent of returning the RV to the same financial position it was in prior to the loss. Replacing a worn part with a new part results in betterment. The Owner will be responsible to pay the price difference between the depreciated (existing) parts and the new replacement parts. The Owner will be expected to contribute financially to the betterment of their RV in the event of a repair with new replacement parts.
In the event of a total loss of an RV, the determination of a total loss and the ACV of the RV will be determined by our partner insurer / appraiser.

  • Can I get a copy of your insurance policy?

We cannot share our copy of the insurance policy as RVezy is the policyholder, however, we provide all insured hosts a printable copy of their insurance certificate showing the policy number and confirming that their RV is insured by RVezy's policy during the rental.

If you'd like to request a Certificate of Insurance, please contact us.

  • What should I do if my insurance company will decline me coverage if I rent out my RV?

Some insurance companies are still trying to understand the concept of the sharing economy and how it affects their policies. They may not fully grasp the implications of renting out personal property through platforms like RVezy.

When you choose to rent out your RV through RVezy and opt for our insurance coverage, there is no need to involve your personal insurance provider. Our commercial insurance policy is specifically designed to protect your RV during the entire rental process, including delivery, pick-up, and the rental period.

However, there might be instances where your personal insurance provider does not offer coverage for rental activities or if you are considering switching insurers. In such cases, we highly recommend reaching out to Aon Insurance, an international insurance broker with extensive experience in Canada and the USA. They can assist you in finding the right insurance coverage for your RV, ensuring that you are adequately protected.
